Our very own Fred Sheftell, MD, took over the presidency of the American Headache Society during the summer. The AHS had a very successful June 2008 meeting in Boston, and in 2009 will hold the 51st Annual Scientific Meeting jointly with the 14th International Headache Congress in Philadelphia, PA on September 10-13th, 2009.

Another of our Board members, Morris Levin, MD, edited the Headache Cooperative of New England Comprehensive Review of Headache Medicine with chapter contributions from board members. See Publications.

 

 

After a successful ‘Headache on the Hill’ in September 2007, we are delighted to hear that ‘Headache on the Hill’ will be held again on Febuary 23rd and 24th 2009. Headache medicine clinicians will get the opportunity to met with Senators and Representatives in Washington, DC.

‘Headache on the Hill’ is a response to the chronic lack of public research support for headache medicine, federal funding for which is ~$13 million yearly out of a total National Institutes of Health (NIH) budget of ~$28 billion.
